Shizuka Minamoto , nicknamed Shizuka-chan is a smart, kind and pretty girl; she actually is Nobita's closest friend and he has a crush on her behalf. Shizuka can be an animal enthusiast and retains two house animals at home: a puppy, who's kept from succumbing to disease by Doraemon and Nobita in a single story; and a canary which runs away on multiple occasions and causing Shizuka and Nobita to run around metropolis hunting her down.Because of Doraemon's intervention, Shizuka will marry Nobita in the foreseeable future. At present, she does not have any particular crush (other than on Nobita, whom she secretly likes very much), although she fancies some handsome idols on TV. Apart from Nobita, Gian, and Suneo, Shizuka is also close to classmate and popular college student Dekisugi making Nobita jealous; though they consider the other person only as friends, Nobita often will try to alongside one another prevent them from going.In the shut captioning of Doraemon's Time Capsule, her Japanese name is maintained while donating her diary to the capsule.
