Shizuka Minamoto , nicknamed Shizuka-chan is a smart, kind and pretty girl; she actually is Nobita's closest friend and he has a crush on her behalf. She does not shun Nobita due to the latter's failing grades, lazy disposition or frequent failures; in simple fact she often attempts to encourage him to do better, though she fails to persuade him usually. She is also known for taking piano lessons unwillingly scheduled to her mother's wants (as she is in love with violin more), which is sometimes a reason for declining to hang out with friends (but she plays piano perfectly than violin). Shizuka is an animal lover and will keep two household pets at home: a dog, who's saved from succumbing to condition by Doraemon and Nobita in a single history; and a canary which runs away on multiple occasions and leading to Shizuka and Nobita to run around metropolis hunting her down.Due to Doraemon's intervention, Shizuka will marry Nobita in the foreseeable future. At the moment, she does not have any particular crush (other than on Nobita, whom she secretly likes very much), although she fancies some handsome idols on TV. Other than Nobita, Gian, and Suneo, Shizuka is also close to classmate and popular learner Dekisugi making Nobita jealous; though they consider the other person only as friends, Nobita often will try to prevent them from going mutually.In the shut down captioning of Doraemon's Time Capsule, her Japanese name is retained while donating her diary to the capsule.
