Shizuka Minamoto , nicknamed Shizuka-chan is a smart, kind and pretty girl; she actually is Nobita's best friend and he has a crush on her behalf. She does not shun Nobita due to the latter's failing grades, sluggish disposition or continuous failures; in simple fact she often will try to encourage him to do better, though she usually fails to influence him. Shizuka loves to have a bath several times a day, however, a running gag in the series is the fact Shizuka is often interrupted by Nobita's sudden appearance, usually due to misuse of Doraemon's devices such as the Anywhere Door, ending with Shizuka shouting "Disappear completely, pervert!" to Nobita.Her true passions are lovely potatoes, which she would keep to herself out of the understanding of others rather, and the violin, where her playing is really as horrendous as Gian's performing. She is also known when planning on taking piano lessons unwillingly due to her mother's needs (as she is in love with violin more), which may also be a reason for declining to hold out with friends (but she performs piano perfectly than violin). Shizuka is an animal fan and retains two household pets at home: a dog, who is saved from succumbing to condition by Doraemon and Nobita in one storyline; and a canary which runs away on multiple occasions and triggering Shizuka and Nobita to run around metropolis hunting her down.Due to Doraemon's intervention, Shizuka shall marry Nobita in the foreseeable future. At the moment, she doesn't have any particular crush (other than on Nobita, whom she secretly likes very much), although she fancies some handsome idols on TV. Apart from Nobita, Gian, and Suneo, Shizuka is also near classmate and popular student Dekisugi which makes Nobita jealous; though they consider each other only as friends, Nobita often tries to avoid them from heading collectively.In the shut down captioning of Doraemon's Time Capsule, her Japanese name is maintained while donating her diary to the capsule.
