Shizuka Minamoto , nicknamed Shizuka-chan is a smart, kind and attractive girl; she is Nobita's closest friend and he has a crush on her behalf. She does not shun Nobita because of the latter's failing levels, lazy disposition or regular failures; in truth she will try to encourage him to do better often, though she fails to persuade him usually. Shizuka loves to have a bath many times a complete day, however, a running gag in the series is the fact that Shizuka is often interrupted by Nobita's sudden appearance, usually due to misuse of Doraemon's gadgets such as the Anywhere Door, ending with Shizuka shouting "Disappear completely, pervert!" to Nobita.Her true passions are sweet potatoes, which she'd rather maintain herself from the knowledge of others, and the violin, in which her playing is really as horrendous as Gian's performing. She is also known for taking piano lessons unwillingly scheduled to her mother's wants (as she enjoys violin more), which may also be a reason for declining to hang out with friends (but she performs piano very well than violin). Shizuka is an animal enthusiast and will keep two household pets at home: a puppy, who's saved from succumbing to illness by Nobita and Doraemon in a single storyline; and a canary which runs away on multiple occasions and leading to Shizuka and Nobita to run around the location hunting her down.Because of Doraemon's intervention, Shizuka shall marry Nobita in the future. At the moment, she doesn't have any particular crush (other than on Nobita, whom she secretly likes quite definitely), although she fancies some handsome idols on TV. Apart from Nobita, Gian, and Suneo, Shizuka is also close to classmate and popular scholar Dekisugi which makes Nobita jealous; though they consider one another only as friends, Nobita often will try to prevent them from heading together.In the closed captioning of Doraemon's Time Capsule, her Japanese name is retained while donating her journal to the capsule. It might be an error.
