Shizuka Minamoto , nicknamed Shizuka-chan is a smart, kind and attractive girl; she actually is Nobita's closest friend and he has a crush on her behalf. She will not shun Nobita because of the latter's failing grades, lazy disposition or frequent failures; in fact she attempts to encourage him to do better often, though she fails to influence him usually. Shizuka loves to take a bath several times a day, however, a running gag in the series is the fact Shizuka is often interrupted by Nobita's sudden appearance, usually due to misuse of Doraemon's gadgets including the Anywhere Door, ending with Shizuka shouting "Go away, pervert!" to Nobita.Her true passions are sweet potatoes, which she would rather maintain herself out of the knowledge of others, and the violin, in which her playing is as horrendous as Gian's singing. She actually is also known for taking piano lessons unwillingly anticipated to her mother's needs (as she is in love with violin more), which may also be grounds for declining to hold out with friends (but she takes on piano very well than violin).
