Nobita's typical day involves arriving overdue to school, falling asleep during class, rating zero (0%) (F's in the English dub) on his testing, getting scolded by his educator, being teased by his classmates Suneo and Gian, slipping in the curbside rain gutters, getting chased by pups after stepping on the tails mistakenly, getting grounded by his mother for not completing his research, and being bullied by all his friends except Shizuka, who remembers Nobita's kind heart and soul and cares for him. He's a coward who is terrified by almost everything also, particularly ghosts, and a cry-baby (a jogging gag in the show has Nobita crying and asking for Doraemon to draw out his gadgets, mainly at the beginning of the episode). He dislikes going on outdoor activities with his interest being taking a day nap or reading comics, right after school usually. In fact, sleeping and comic booklet reading are his only true hobbies and interests probably; one story features Nobita falling in three seconds simply by closing his eyes asleep, while in others he chooses sleep over important events, such as watching the first sunrise on New Year's Day. The only thing preventing him from staying at home all the time, other than tinkering with Doraemon's devices, is Gian and Suneo bullying him to take part in baseball games or criticisms from his parents and Doraemon to venture out and play.Despite the above flaws, Nobita is portrayed as being kind-hearted usually, emotional, honest, once in a while hard-working (like when he gets into a wager along with his friends) and sometimes courageous. He has often risked his life to assist in saving others or even entire civilizations in full-length tales. Though he's shown to be academically poor, the real reason for it is his laziness principally, and he has also secured good markings in multiple episodes, proving his qualifications. Nobita can be very serious and dependable sometimes. Nobita is weak at most things but has some strengths. For instance, Nobita has excellent marksmanship which rivals (or even surpasses) Dora a child. He can weave excellent string characters also, is a great archer, and a fairly good comic booklet critic, due to the large amount of time he spends on reading them. He's also very creative when it comes to utilizing Doraemon's gadgets (in one episode, he found a way to use a tool called 'the broadcasting mirror' profitably, for advertising, even though Doraemon himself couldn't think of any use for it).In the original background where Doraemon did not interfere, Nobita marries Jaiko (Gian's sister, although he is in love with Shizuka), never sees a good job, begins his own business, and eventually goes bankrupt. Doraemon succeeds on his mission to prevent each one of these from happening, as observed in several episodes where they happen to be the future. Nobita eventually marries Shizuka and becomes an official in the Ministry of Environment.
