Shizuka Minamoto , nicknamed Shizuka-chan is a good, kind and lovely girl; she actually is Nobita's closest friend and he has a crush on her behalf. She does not shun Nobita due to the latter's failing levels, sluggish disposition or regular failures; in fact she attempts to encourage him to do better often, though she usually does not encourage him. Shizuka loves to have a bath several times a full day, however, a running gag in the series is the fact Shizuka is often interrupted by Nobita's sudden appearance, usually due to misuse of Doraemon's devices such as the Anywhere Door, ending with Shizuka shouting "Go away, pervert!" to Nobita.Her true passions are special potatoes, which she'd alternatively maintain herself out of the understanding of others, and the violin, where her playing is as horrendous as Gian's performing. She is also known when planning on taking piano lessons unwillingly scheduled to her mother's wishes (as she adores violin more), which is sometimes grounds for declining to hold out with friends (but she plays piano perfectly than violin). Shizuka can be an animal enthusiast and helps to keep two household pets at home: a dog, who's kept from succumbing to condition by Doraemon and Nobita in a single storyline; and a canary which runs away on multiple occasions and leading to Shizuka and Nobita to perform around the location hunting her down.Due to Doraemon's intervention, Shizuka will marry Nobita in the future. At present, she does not have any particular crush (apart from on Nobita, whom she secretly likes very much), although she fancies some handsome idols on TV. Apart from Nobita, Gian, and Suneo, Shizuka is also close to classmate and popular pupil Dekisugi which makes Nobita jealous; though they consider one another only as friends, Nobita often attempts to avoid them from heading together.In the shut down captioning of Doraemon's Time Capsule, her Japanese name is maintained while donating her journal to the capsule.
