Shizuka Minamoto , nicknamed Shizuka-chan is a smart, kind and attractive girl; she is Nobita's best friend and he has a crush on her behalf. She does not shun Nobita because of the latter's failing grades, sluggish disposition or constant failures; in fact she tries to encourage him to do better often, though she fails to influence him usually. Shizuka can be an animal fan and will keep two dogs at home: a puppy, who is preserved from succumbing to health issues by Nobita and Doraemon in a single account; and a canary which runs away on multiple occasions and causing Shizuka and Nobita to run around the city hunting her down.Because of Doraemon's intervention, Shizuka shall marry Nobita in the foreseeable future. At present, she does not have any particular crush (other than on Nobita, whom she secretly likes quite definitely), although she fancies some handsome idols on TV. Apart from Nobita, Gian, and Suneo, Shizuka is also near classmate and popular pupil Dekisugi making Nobita jealous; though they consider the other person only as friends, Nobita often tries to prevent them from going mutually.In the closed captioning of Doraemon's Time Capsule, her Japanese name is maintained while donating her journal to the capsule.
