Shizuka Minamoto , nicknamed Shizuka-chan is a smart, kind and lovely girl; she actually is Nobita's closest friend and he has a crush on her. She does not shun Nobita because of the latter's failing marks, lazy disposition or regular failures; in simple fact she often will try to encourage him to do better, though she usually does not persuade him. Shizuka loves to have a bath several times a complete day, however, a running gag in the series is that Shizuka is often interrupted by Nobita's sudden appearance, usually due to misuse of Doraemon's gadgets including the Anywhere Door, ending with Shizuka shouting "Disappear completely, pervert!" to Nobita.Her true passions are special potatoes, which she'd maintain herself out of the understanding of others alternatively, and the violin, in which her playing is as horrendous as Gian's performing. She is also known for taking piano lessons unwillingly credited to her mother's desires (as she enjoys violin more), which may also be a reason for declining to hold out with friends (but she performs piano perfectly than violin). Shizuka is an animal lover and will keep two dogs and cats at home: a dog, who is saved from succumbing to health problems by Nobita and Doraemon in a single storyline; and a canary which runs away on multiple occasions and triggering Shizuka and Nobita to run around the town hunting her down.Due to Doraemon's intervention, Shizuka shall marry Nobita in the future. At the moment, she does not have any particular crush (other than on Nobita, whom she secretly likes quite definitely), although she fancies some handsome idols on TV. Apart from Nobita, Gian, and Suneo, Shizuka is also near classmate and popular college student Dekisugi making Nobita jealous; though they consider each other only as friends, Nobita often will try to avoid them from going alongside one another.In the shut captioning of Doraemon's Time Capsule, her Japanese name is retained while donating her journal to the capsule. It might be an error.
