Shizuka Minamoto , nicknamed Shizuka-chan is a smart, kind and attractive girl; she is Nobita's best friend and he has a crush on her behalf. She will not shun Nobita because of the latter's failing grades, sluggish disposition or continuous failures; in reality she will try to encourage him to do better often, though she usually does not persuade him. Shizuka loves to have a bath several times a full day, however, a running gag in the series is that Shizuka is often interrupted by Nobita's sudden appearance, usually due to misuse of Doraemon's gadgets like the Anywhere Door, ending with Shizuka shouting "Disappear completely, pervert!" to Nobita.Her true passions are lovely potatoes, which she would rather maintain herself from the knowledge of others, and the violin, in which her playing is as horrendous as Gian's singing. She is also known when planning on taking piano lessons unwillingly scheduled to her mother's wishes (as she is in love with violin more), which is sometimes a reason for declining to hold out with friends (but she takes on piano very well than violin). Shizuka can be an animal lover and helps to keep two pets at home: a dog, who is saved from succumbing to illness by Doraemon and Nobita in one tale; and a canary which runs away on multiple occasions and triggering Shizuka and Nobita to perform around metropolis hunting her down.Because of Doraemon's intervention, Shizuka will marry Nobita in the foreseeable future. At present, she does not have any particular crush (apart from on Nobita, whom she secretly likes quite definitely), although she fancies some handsome idols on TV. Other than Nobita, Gian, and Suneo, Shizuka is also near to classmate and popular pupil Dekisugi which makes Nobita jealous; though they consider the other person only as friends, Nobita often tries to along prevent them from going.In the closed down captioning of Doraemon's Time Capsule, her Japanese name is retained while donating her diary to the capsule. It could be an mistake.
