Shizuka Minamoto , nicknamed Shizuka-chan is a good, kind and pretty girl; she actually is Nobita's best friend and he has a crush on her behalf. She does not shun Nobita because of the latter's failing marks, lazy disposition or regular failures; in fact she will try to encourage him to do better often, though she usually does not persuade him. Shizuka loves to have a bath many times a day, however, a running gag in the series is that Shizuka is often interrupted by Nobita's sudden appearance, usually due to misuse of Doraemon's gadgets such as the Anywhere Door, ending with Shizuka shouting "Go away, pervert!" to Nobita.Her true passions are special potatoes, which she would keep to herself out of the knowledge of others alternatively, and the violin, where her playing is as horrendous as Gian's singing. She is also known for taking piano lessons unwillingly anticipated to her mother's wants (as she adores violin more), which is sometimes a reason for declining to hang out with friends (but she takes on piano very well than violin). Shizuka can be an animal lover and will keep two pets at home: your dog, who's kept from succumbing to disease by Doraemon and Nobita in a single tale; and a canary which runs away on multiple occasions and leading to Shizuka and Nobita to perform around the town hunting her down.Due to Doraemon's intervention, Shizuka shall marry Nobita in the future. At present, she does not have any particular crush (other than on Nobita, whom she secretly likes quite definitely), although she fancies some handsome idols on TV. Apart from Nobita, Gian, and Suneo, Shizuka is also near classmate and popular student Dekisugi making Nobita jealous; though they consider each other only as friends, Nobita often attempts to avoid them from going alongside one another.In the closed captioning of Doraemon's Time Capsule, her Japanese name is maintained while donating her journal to the capsule. It may be an error.
