Shizuka Minamoto , nicknamed Shizuka-chan is a smart, kind and very girl; she is Nobita's best friend and he has a crush on her. She does not shun Nobita because of the latter's failing marks, sluggish disposition or continuous failures; in reality she tries to encourage him to do better often, though she fails to encourage him usually. Shizuka likes to have a bath many times a day, however, a running gag in the series is the fact that Shizuka is often interrupted by Nobita's sudden appearance, usually due to misuse of Doraemon's devices such as the Anywhere Door, ending with Shizuka shouting "Disappear completely, pervert!" to Nobita.Her true passions are lovely potatoes, which she would rather keep to herself out of the knowledge of others, and the violin, in which her playing is as horrendous as Gian's singing. She is also known when planning on taking piano lessons unwillingly scheduled to her mother's wishes (as she adores violin more), which may also be a reason for declining to hold out with friends (but she performs piano very well than violin). Shizuka can be an animal lover and will keep two pets at home: a dog, who is preserved from succumbing to condition by Nobita and Doraemon in a single storyline; and a canary which runs away on multiple occasions and creating Shizuka and Nobita to perform around the town hunting her down.Due to Doraemon's intervention, Shizuka will marry Nobita in the future. At present, she does not have any particular crush (apart from on Nobita, whom she secretly likes quite definitely), although she fancies some handsome idols on TV. Other than Nobita, Gian, and Suneo, Shizuka is also near to classmate and popular student Dekisugi which makes Nobita jealous; though they consider each other only as friends, Nobita often will try to avoid them from heading mutually.In the closed captioning of Doraemon's Time Capsule, her Japanese name is retained while donating her journal to the capsule.
